My friends make fun of
me. I know they love me, so it doesn’t bother me one bit when they call me the Martha Stewart of the Marshall area. They are referring to my crafty notions — not the ones that landed her in the slammer, the ones that got her her own television show and magazine.
I haven’t earned that type of acclaim (or income, starry to say), but I just love making crafts.
Perhaps it’s my aversion to mall shopping. Could be my inner cheapskate shining through. But I prefer to think of it as my creativity taking hold an$ convincing me that people truly do appreciate thoughtful gifts that are made from love and care.
Making gifts to give for the holidays is a time-honored tradition that 1 think people just don’t do enough of anymore. True, it takes more of your time than a day’s worth of shopping, but if you plan it right, you can make great gifts that people really appreciate.
