Harris Conducting
Land Classification
Alex J. Harris of V.P.I. will be in Rappahannock county for several weeks conducting a survey on the economic land classification of soil types.
The economic land classification as being conducted in Virginia, counties and the findings are published in leaflets and distributed by the V.P.I. Extension Service.
The classification is based on normal economic conditions and the present st%te of development. Information is obtained by visiting individual farm units and making cursory appraisal of them. The resulting map shows non-agricultural land, land which should go out of agriculture, and the various classes of agricultural land considered to be above the marginal level.
The survey offers a basis for planning for agricultural improvements and for servicing the agricultural industry as it exists.
This survey has been completed in Richmond and Powhatan counties and the leaflets) have been published.

Miss GladyS Reld. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Reid, of Washington will be at Madison college, Harrisonburg, Monday and Tuesday, July 17-18, to attend the Institute on Public Education.
Miss Reid was valedictorian ef the class of Washington High School, class of 19-50. She was an. outstanding member of the student body, and was editor of the school’s paper.

W. Arthur Miller showed four colts at the Show of Breeding Stock at Warrenton Horae Show grounds Saturday, July 8. The suckling colt took second place in - its class, while the yearling colt placed fourth.
