Landscaping, Gardening
Classes At V. P. I.
Landscaping the home grounds, hnd fruit, flower, and vegetable production practices, will be taught at a short course for gardeners at V. P. I., August 7-11.
Anyone interested in gardening may attend.
The morning programs will feature lectures and demonstrations by members of the department of horticulture at V. P. I. The afternoon programs will feature field trips to points of interest on the campus, including the Horticultural plantings, the food processing laboratory, creamery, and animal husbandry farms.
Tuesday morning, August 8, A. S. Beecher, assistant horticulturist at V. P. I., will lecture on “Landscaping the Home Grounds,” and will demonstrate techniques in planning special features such as fireplaces and garden pools.
Wednesday morning, Flood S., Andrews, associate horticulturist, and J. O. Nicholson, student, will discuss and demonstrate “Propagating Plants for Home Grounds.” unds.”
Thursday, A. H. Teske, horticulturist, will discuss “Fruits, Useful- and Ornamental.”
Friday morning sessions will be a- question-and-answer- program, during which department members will discuss problems chosen by the short course students.
There will be no examinations given, no certificates awarded.
A registration fee of $1.50 will be charged. Rooms are available in the V. P. I. dormitories at $1.00 per night with two in a room. Meals at the college dining room will be 50c each. Accommodations are available for married couples.
