NEWS FOR VETERANS
Payment of the special dividend on National Service Life Insurance has been made to approximately 14,000,000 veterans of World War II, the Veterans Administration said, and payments to date have exceeded $2,500,* 000,000.
The bulk of payments to eligible veterans who have applied will be completed by the end of June, V-A said.
Arrangements for payment of dividends to the beneficiaries of World War II veterans who have died and who had paid premiums on their GI insurance for at least three months before their death, are now being handled by the district offices of the Veterans Administration.
There are three general groups under this heading, where the veteran has deceased and his beneficiaries will be eligible to receive a dividend. The first group consists of those who are receiving monthly NSLJ payments as the proceeds of a policy, on account of the death of the veteran. V-A said there should be little difficulty in making such payments.
The second group consists of beneficiaries who friave received payment of the proceeds of a NSLI policy in one lump sum. This will be processed individually following the first group and will be relatively simple to handle.
The third group will be the estates of deceased \eterans whose NSLI policies had been in effect for three months of more but had been lapsed at the time of death, or individuals entitled by law to receive the dividend payments. This group requires the greatest amount of time for handling, as each case must be handled individually and many require legal determinations. The Veterans Administration district offices are working on this group as well as the first and second •-groups.
