If there’s any good, clean fun going on, we all like to be in on it. In fact, you can amend it to read, If ■ there is any fun afoot, count me in.

Mr. Lockett, the Collier’s man, was back in the county last week. He found his glasses. They were in the beauty parlor.

It’s fair to tell on him. He was informed that for a price silence could be purchased, but he didn’t volunteer to bargain. Either Collier’s will have to pay him enough to buy his way out of these embarrassing circumstances, or else he must be more careful where he leaves his glasses.

A lady whose address is “Time and Life Buildinp, Rockefeller Center, New York” was flitting around the county last Sunday. She stopped in Harris Hollow, and it’s understood she saw Washington’s mayor-elect. Her father used to be at “Rockbottom”. and she has a bushel of kin-folk in a neighboring county. Tis understood the lady was issued a most cordial invitation to visit again in the county.

They tell a story now from North Carolina whereby one fish is overheard saying to another fish in a contemptuous tone, “Did you hear about that dumb fish, Joe Smith? He got caught in Neal’s Creek . . .”

This is just heresay, but maybe in their own way, fish which get cauzht in Neal’s Creek would be crestfallen if they knew the circumstances, for Neal’s Oeek, in the mountains of western North Carolina, is for ladies to fish in. Signs along the creek say, “Fishing — For Women Only.” It’s against the law for members of the male sex to fish there.

Pshaw! The only thing that makes that story worth telling is that in the Tar Heel State there’s' only one creek taken over by women. Now take Washington for instance—the men here would feel themselves lucky if they could locate even one little stream in which they could fish without the women taking over.
