Man Escapes Injury
As Tractor Runs Amuck
A special brand of rabbit’s foot or four-leaf clover was riding with Braxton James at Amissville on Thursday when his tractor got out of control and crashed into the gas tank in front of Palmer’s Store.
Braxton James lost control of his tractor as he made a turn in front of Palmer’s Store. Thinking that the tractor was overturning, James jumped and escaped injury. The tractor went over a small concrete rise, crashed into Mr. Palmer’s car, which was parked before the porch, under the shelter between the porch and the gas pumps. After the tractor struck the Car, it careened into one of the gas pumps and knocked it over against a brick post. The tractor_ . stopped, propped up against the tilted gas pump.
Mr. Palmer was seated ,on the porch at the time of the accident and watehed the tractor plow into his car, smash both doors and ruin -a fender. He states that it was bad enough to sit thefe and watch the car get smashed, ,but when the tractor was turned over against the broken gas tank with gas and oil leaking about his store, he really worried.
Lady Luck was smiling around the corner, however, and no fire started.
