The social studies classes at the high school gave a very interesting program which utilized posters, maps, and questions and answers. Dickty Whlker stated the broad purpose of the social studies group. Della Mae Mills gave an interpretation of the world map which showed everyone so vividly Russia’s dangerous encroachment upon the huge portion of(. the world’s surface.
Bobby Corder opened the eighth grade part of the program by a series of pertinent questions and answers. They informed the assembly of essential facts about United Nations. Others taking part were John Turner, Irene Jenkins,Florence Jenkins, Lester Clatterbuck, Peggy Dodson, Virgil Corbin, and Dickie Walker.
Charles Scroggins took charge of the seniors’ contribution. This part of the program consisted* of an explanation of the six chief organs of U.N: Lois Walters, general assembly; Edwin Scroggins, security council; Phyllis Hudson and Joyce Spicer, secretariat; Helen Zinn, economic and social coun-' i» oil; Marion Scott, trusteeship (council; Charles Scroggins, international court of justice; and Leland Walter, other important agencies of the United Nations.
Mr. Winfrey closed the program by adding his thanks to the Home Demonstration ladies. He summarized the importance of such a program, expressing his appreciation to the participants, and complimenting them for their poise—Contributed.
