Primitive or Old School

Baptist Church

By J. Htmjr Daily

The Primitive or Old School Baptist church hold to the old principles and customs that have marked their identity through the ages. In doctrine they have been known as Calvanists because their belief was so nearly like that of Calvin, written in the fifteenth century. At that time they were known as Waldenses and before v that as Novations. They have held to ,the same doctrine and practice from their beginning.

•They believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the only rule of faith and prac-< tice; that God elected a certain number of the human family, (including all infants who die in in* fancy) to be conformed to the image of his Son, and that they will be finally brought to glory without the loss of any (John 6:37); that man, by his fallen state in sin is unable to recover himself of his own free will and ability; that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the imputed righteousness^fi^ Christ; * that Coif's elect shallbe called, regenerate (born again) and sanctified by the Holy Spirit, and that their eternal salvation is in no way depending on the preached gospel.
