* On Thursday, November 16, farmers of Rappahannock county, and others throughout the state, •will go to the polls, in their local communities, to choose their fellow-farmers as committeemen administer Production and Marketing Administration farm programs during 1951.
In each community a farmercommittee of three will be elected, and a delegate who will sit with other community delegates to nam§ a three-man county committee. All committeemen serve for one year, unless re-elected.
H. S. Barksdale, chairman of the Rappahannock PMA county committee during the past year, strongly urges fanners to take part in this election of farmers who will (represent them during the coming year,
“I can think of no more convincing way for farmers to insure continued effectiveness of their democratic farmer-committee system for local administration of national farm programs than by participating in their own community elections,” Mr. Barksdale said. “As in the past, our objective must be a balanced, abundant production of food and fibre at fair prices, the proper care of our land, and the development of stable communities with opportunities for better living. The decisions and actions of our farmer-elected committees in months ahead will vitally affect progress toward these objectives,” he added.
Any farmer who participates in the Agricultural Conservation Program, and- anyone -eligible for, price support purchases or community loans, may vote.
Polling places in each community will be published later, with other information.
