An anonymous phone call arrived at the News office last week. “Why can’t the paper print something besides the woman-election?”
Ah! woe is the editorl The poor ole’ soul thought there was something else in the paper besides that subject so offensive to the conversationalist.
There is no answer. If you print news of the women’s taking over the county seat, then there would be complaints; if you don’t print it, there are some who would howl.
Constructive criticism Is that which is sought in these quarters. The woman on the phone, who would not give her name, (or else some man has a most effeminate voice) didn’t suggest whatjo puj in the place of the news that was offensive.
Not too long ago there appeared in the paper a review of the old fable of the Miller, His Son, and the Ass—the moral of which was that you cannot please all the. people all the time.
The poor ole’ editor just blunders along, doing the best possible (and no wise-cracks about how little that i^) and there is never anything put in the paper that is meant to displease. Whenever someone is made unhappy, it is purely unintentional.
