Washington Story In Collier’s Magazine Goes On Sale Friday
the magazine article in Collier’s magazine will foe on hand tomorrow morning for sale all over the United States, carrying an article entitled “She-Town,” using Dr. John P. Snead’s joke as a basis, for the story heading. Dr. Snead remarked, when the first jokes began after the election of the allwoman government in Rappahannock’s county seat, that he was going to place signs at the entrances to the town saying, “You Are Now Entering She-Town.” Magazines will be on sale at Rappahannock News office Friday morning, October 27.
Advance publicity stories on the coming article state that thdre are five color pictures, showing the mayor, the town council, three men on a bench in front of the Courthouse, and a picture overlooking the town showing the mountains and the beautiful rolling countryside.
Edward Lockett, author of the story, is a native Virginian. He stated that he had enjoyed his visit in the county—and proved it by returning for an extra visit. He found an old friend in the county, Dr. W. G. Pendleton, who had been his professor when Lockett was a student at Virginia Episcopal School.
