The pupils in your classrooms are affected in one iway or another by the stream of current events; therefore, the confusion and trouble abroad in the world must necessarily leave their imprint upon their lives. With good cause, young peoples everywhere are concerned about the future'. Of one thing, however, I believe we can be certain—the solution of the problems which confront us in our State, in our Nation, and in the world j of freedomloving people will depend to a greater extent than ever before on decisions reached by intelligent and educated persons of high integrity and Christian morality. The preparation for the type of leadership which will help solve our tnany complicated problems is the most important responsibility today of our schools, colleges, and universities. As teachers in the public schools, you have a real contribution to make in meeting this challenge of fulfilling your obligation to the children and youth you teach. Through doing an effective job of teaching in your own schools and classrooms, you can take pride in the contribution you will make in helping to save civilization.
