Sunday School Gets $213

Skipper Giles’s Washington Cash Store ran far in front in a race to see who would ge< the most dollars pinned to the cards in the campaign to "Add a Dollar to Add to the Sunday School,” put on by Washington Baptist church.

Skipper Giles had $50 pasted to his card. Massie’s Corner Service Station ran second, with $24, nosing out the News Office who had to take third place with $23. Rappahannock National Bank was fourth with $10, just a step ahead of the Washington House with $14. Lea’s Store had $11 pinned to the card, while Merrill’s and the Washington Cafe tied with $10 each. Jenkins bus Station and the Clerk’s Office tied at'IT. The County Agent’s office and Payne Garage each had $6, and to prove the ladies did not surpass the men in donations to a good*.cause, Watts’ barber shop and the beauty parlor each had the same amount, $6 Phetbert Green’s barber shop collected $5, and Hampton Service Station, also, had $5. Skyline View Service-Station, though, farthest from town, still got $4. The Selective Service office had only $2, but someone explained that when a fellow was up being drafted for the army, he wasn’t in a giving mood. The PMA office still had its $1 “nest egg,” and some wise-cracker said you went to the PMA office to get, not to give.

The little , campiagn can be termed a definite success, for it added a total of $213 to the fund to help get needed rooms for the Sunday school at Washington Baptist church.
