As mentioned, these materials are specific for this insect and must be put on when the trees are dormant which is not always convenient. Today there are available such insecttides as B.H.C. and Parathion which are effective against aphis. It is now not necessary to depend noon a dormant spray to control aphis. These materials not only provide a greater leeway in spraying time but they may be combined with other materials and give an opportunity to reduce the number of spray applications. At the same time these spray chemicals are dependable for the control of many other insects. Leaf roller and mites have caused increasing concern to fruit growers.
