Second Cover Spray
The materials to be used in the spray for disease control will depend somewhat upon the weather. If the weather remains cool and moisture is plentiful, sulfur alone or a combination of sulfur and Ferbam may be used. For sulfur alone use ten pounds of flotation paste or five pounds of a dry wettable sulfur in one hundred gallons qr a combination of eight pounds of flotation sulfur and four pounds of a dry wettable sulfur plus one pound of Ferbam. If the weather is warm, it is advisable to use one and one-half pounds of Ferbam alone in one hundred gallons to avoid sulfur injury.
To the fungicide should be added two pounds of a 50 per cent DDT powder or one and one-third pounds of a 75 per sent DDT powder for insect control- Before starting this spray a careful check-up should be made in the orchard on the mite ami leaf roller situation; and if needed, insecticides should be added to the spray for their control. *
Third Cover Spray This spray is an important codling moth spray, and if scab infection has not taken place, the fungicide may be omitted. If protection againnst diseases is necessary, use one and one-half pounds of Ferbam,
