Miss Virginia Lee Smith was among the 240 seniors who were graduated from Longwood College, Farmville, Va. at commencement exercises held Sunday, May 30. Miss Smith, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lee Smith, Spring House Farm, Washington, Va., received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Charles R. McDowell, Jr., of Richmond, noted journalist, author and columnist for the Richmond Times Dispatch, was the speaker at commencement exercises. Dr. John A. Redhead, Jr., Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Greensboro, N. C. made the address at the Baccalaureate sermon.

Fork Union Academy
Graduation exercises we r e held on Saturday, May 29 at Fork Union Military Academy. Cadet John Lee Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor of Sperryville was one of the graduates. He has played in the band for the five years he has attended the Academy. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor for the Mother's Day Dress Parade at Fork Union were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ritter, Mrs. Ralph Glaze, Mrs. H. C. Thomas and daughter, all of Washington, D. C. A reception for guests was held on the circle during the band concert.
Amissville Methodists To Hear Mr. Charles
Mr. Ted Charles of Warrenton will be guest speaker at the 11 a.m. worship service at Amissville Methodist Church on Sunday, June 6. The pastor of the church, The Rev. James Harrison, with his family, will be in Virginia Beach were Mr. Harrison will attend the annual conference of the Methodist Churches of Virginia Sunday through Thursday.
