Warren, Chairman, V i r g i n i a Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) State Committee, today announced the appointment of the ASC State Advisory Committee for Virginia, The committee will assist the ASC State committee in assigned areas of mutual interest. As approved by Horace D. Godfrey, Administrator, Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, U. S. Department of Agriculture, mem bers of the Virginia ASC State Advisory Committee are Oscar Beverly Brown, Jr. of Abingdon, Willard Smith of Dry Fork, and Lloyd Sykes of Capron. “While we have made considerable progress toward very active participation of all groups in ASCS programs, the appointment of an advisory committee is still another step in ASCS progress in the field of equal opportunity,* Mr. Warren said. Oscar B. Brown was born and reared in Washington County. He is a graduate of Morriston College, and has done graduate work at Bluefield (W. Va.) College, the University of Virginia, and Virginia State College. Mr. Brown has taught in Washington County schools for 27 years, serving as principal for 23 years. In 1965-66, he will teach at the William King Elementary School. He is a member of the Board of Trustees and an assistant lay leader of the Charles Wesley Methodist Church.
