Performance Study
Chaired by Henry A. Lowry, first vice-president, a Performance Study Committee of the Tuberculosis and Health Association of Northern Virginia met on Thursday at the area office to start work on an evaluation of the organization’s activities.
Taylor Copping, Program Consultant, of the Virginia TB and Respiratory Disease Association and '‘TFhe study is to take'stock of what it (the association) is doing, to identify strengths and weaknesses of the organization and to map out a program of what is actually needed in the area* to control tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases. He said that “this is an excellent opportunity for the total board membership to be involved in one way or another. Out of this it is hoped there will be a greater understanding of what the TB associations role is, where the emphasis should be placed in their efforts and they can then make better decisions. It is putting the responsibility of a good program in the hands of the local board, the grass roots*.
Sub-committees were set up to get facts and make recommendations.
The areas to be covered include community data, assessment of activities and problems needing solution in controlling TB and RD, administration and fund raising.
Citizens and board members from the eight counties in the area served by the association will be asked to participate in the evaluation.
The prehistoric cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde, Colorado, cover some 51,000 acres.
