tention to the danger of mixing compounds when you know nothing about the new chemical that may be created. For example, the National Safety Council reported one death, and a near death, as result of mixing well-known cleaner and a household bleach in a toilet bowl. The acid content of the cleaners liberated chlorine when the household bleach was added. One person died in a few minutes. Another survived, but was hospitalized for a long time. If you use household bleaches remember that they are solutions of sodium hypochlorite. Acid substances, even vinegar added to the bleaches, will create and release poisonous chlorine gas. Miss Fuller says never combine cleaners and bleaches. Store them safely in separate place. Keep them away from food and medical supplies and put them where children do not have access to them.
