The children running through the trees to the water’s edg§ the recently caught fish frying with bacon for the camp break fast, the familiar tent or camp trailer—that home away from home, all of these add up to one of the greatest family experiences available to those who enjoy Virginia outdoors. The family camper will usually have plenty of company if he goes to one of the popular Virginia campgrounds. We have about six million campers in the United States, a greater number than either hunters or fishermen, according to the recent estimate of a national camping organization Although we haven’t the slightest idea how many Virginians go camping, we do know there are about 200 carrtpgrounds in Virginia. It contains a place for the tent or camp trailer, a grill or fire circle of some kind, and a table, Campsites are usually near a supply of fresh water, and convenient to a comfort station.
