The correct use of fans can do much to cool your home effectively and inexpensively during hot summer days, says A. J. Lambert, associate F.x tension agricultural engineer at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

‘In areas where air condi tioning is not generally need ed, forced air circulation from tion from an attic fan will give relief,” says the engineer ‘When the temperature cools in the evening, the fan is turn ed on. Some windows are barely opened, allowing the fan to pull the cooler air through the living quarters and attic and forcing the warmer air aut attic louvers.” Lambert says this method is rery satisfactory for moun:ainious areas of the state. Average installation charges vill probably not exceed $150 tnd the fan can be operated or about 10 cents a day.
