Death Valley Chief
Promotion of William N. Burgen of Death Valley National Monument (Calif.) to the position of Chief Ranger of Shenandoah National Park was announced by the Superintendent of the latter, R. Taylor Hoskins.
Hoskins said that at the present time Burgen is Chief Ranger of the California Monument. He will succeed Joseph Kulesza who recently was named Superintendent of Cumberland Gap National Historical Park at Middlesboro, Kentucky. Burgen will assume his new duties in Shenandoah about February ^20, according toHo» kins. The new Chief Ranger is not unfamiliar with the Blue Ridge Mountain area, having served as both a Park Ranger and Park Naturalist on the Blue Ridge Parkway from 1956 until 1960.
