A 1951 Letter
This letter is reprinted from a February issue of the Rappahannock News in 1951, thougl these many years have passed, one might think it was written yesterday.
February 1951 Dear Joe: It*8 been sometime since you were promised a letter from the home county. There have been little changes in Rappahannock, Joe, but you know that. You were raised here and you know how we don’t take quickly to change This winter has been rough, and when we think of you fellows, it makes us ashamed that we are so comfortable in our warm homes. Following a heavy rain recently we had a quick freeze, and you remember all those places in the field where water would rise after a thunder shower in the summer; well, they froze over before they could drain off. Almost every farm had a skating pond, made to order.
