In view of the many questions asked about Southern States 909E, hybrid corn, last year, and so far this year, I feel it is in order to give research results conducted at the various stations where this hybrid was tested.
To my knowledge 1965 was the first time Southern States supplied this hybrid to the Blacksburg and Orange stations where growing conditions are more similar to ours than any other Virginia stations.
Test results at these stations were as follows:
Relative Yield* Orange: R-l 111; R-2 124, % erect 80; ear height 50 inches. Blacksburg: R-l 105; R-2 139; % erect 84; ear height 66 in.
