Five Compete for
RCHS Sweetheart
A Sweetheart of Rappahannock County High School will be chosen at ceremonies scheduled for Tuesday, February 21 at the school. Competing for the title are five young ladies representing each of the grades 8 through 12. Chosen by classmates to participate in the contest are Joan Welch, 8th grade; Betty Jenkins, 9th grade; Sharon Suter, 10th grade; Nancy Thornhill 11th grade; and Brenda Welch, 12th grade. Votes for the Sweetheart are cast at a penny each for the candidate of your choice. The girls are soliciting votes personally and through containers in local business establishments. Contributions to the fund may be made through a candidate or may be sent to the school. Gifts to the fund may be made and will be appreciated whether a candidate is designated or not. This scholarship fund is a worthy project which needs the aid of all local citizens. The Sweetheart campaign is sponsored annually by the Student Cooperative Association of the school with the prime object to assist in establishing and maintaining a scholarship loan fund for the school. This project had its beginning several years ago and the fund has been added to each year. The legal aspects of the trust fund have been dealt with, and by the end of the school year it is possible that students may begin using it. The fund is established to lend financial assistance to
