Plans for a summer preschool program and acorrectional reading program, grades 1-7, were announced today by Director of Instruction, Robert G. Leonard, Jr. Funds for these programs are made available by the Federal Government under the Elementary and Secondary Edu cation Act of 1965. The programs will be held at the Sperryville Elementary School and Mrs. MaryQuaintance will serve as Co-ordinator and Principal. The summer session will begin June 19 and end July 28. Pupils who are registered to enter the first grade this fall are eligible to participate in the pre-school program. Parents who failed to register their children in April at the school they will attend must do so immediately. Pupils who lave had kindergarten experiences will not ordinarily be eligible for the program. Exeeptions may be made for eupils with speech problems, eroblems of maladjustment, etc. The elementary correctional reading program was designed for pupils who are weak in the communication skills. Pupils who are recommended by their teacher will be eligible to attend the program. Pupils may be recommended from all elementary schools in the
