’67-’68 Road Funds
Are Announced
RICHMOND — Secondary road funds totaling $63.8 million for the 1967-68 fiscal year beginning July 1 were announced today by the Sttate Highway^ Commission. The total shows a $2 million increase -over the $61.8 million allocated for the current year. The increase is from increased gasoline and other highway revenues. The 41,866-mile secondary system in 94 of the State’s 96 counties receives 33 per cent of all net road funds, exclusive of federal interstate grants and revenue provided by the 1966 General Assembly. The major portion of the total funds consists of the old source revenues; which are distributed on a four-factor basis of area, current estimated population, road mileage and vehicular miles of travel.
