For example, suppose you had no doctor bills between July 1, when the program started, and October 1. In December you visited the doctor and received a $25 bill from him. Since you did not meet the $50 deductible for 1966, m ed ic a r e would pay nothing toward the bill. Then, starting in 1967, even though it will be a new calendar year, the $25 bill you had in December would count toward your deductible.
