The Post Office Department annourffced today that Rural Vlail Carriers and Star Route Contractors will begin distributing June 1, 1967 Livestock Survey cards to farmer patrons on their routes about May 22. Your Post Office assists the Department of Agriculture each year in making this and two other surveys. Livestock cards returned by farmers to their carriers will 3e mailed directly to the Virginia Crop Reporting Service in Richmond. Informftion from each card, if properly reported, will then be tabulated and combined with other reports to give indications of changes in livestock on Old Dominion farms. These indications will be used to establish estimates of the 1967 calf crop, the spring pig crop as well as plans for fall fan rowing, milk cows on farms, and numbers of chickens in farm flocks. So, next week if you find in your mailbox a card titled “Livestock Survey, June 1, 1967," don’t put it aside. It was placed there by your carrier. Your Postmaster urges that you fill out the card and return it to your carrier as soon as possible. It is important that you return the card for your farm since only a given number of farms will receive these cards and your community will be represented according to the number of cards returned.
