The Panthers of Rapphannock County High School fell victim to the defending champlion Luray Bulldogs 57-37 Monday night in the opening round j of the District X Tournament played at Harrisonburg. Lui ray’s tremendous height ad: vantage was the deciding factor as they dominated the ; boards and forced the Panjthers to shoot outside their I tough zone defense. ; The Panthers did not give up '■without a struggle, however. Luray went to the dressing room at half time with^i comfortable 25-17 lead. The Panthers came roaring back and narrowed the gap to 3 points, | 28-25. This surge was shorti lived as six foot five Charlie j Campbell, who pumped in 20 i points, hit two quick field j goals and Luray was back in | control. ; High scorer for Rappahannock, Charles Dodson with 14 j point, fouled out with four (minutes remaining and Panjther hopes for an upset began (to fade. Coach Dave Layman | said he was very proud with | his team’s efforts. “They i haven’t given up all year and (they didn’t give up tonight. I :am proud of every one of them. We’ll be back next year, and II am sure things will be different.”
