Though the weather in the Rappahannock area has been dry and windy and firemen harassed by field and woods fires, there is still plenty of snow on the mountains. Snow is piled high along Skyline Drive and covers many of the slopes. Low temperatures on the Drive produce a cascade of ice as water runs down over rocky ledges. Earl Hall II of IJerlin, Md. and Susan Latham look at nature's handwork at the tunnel entrance. The Hall family said they are frequent visitors to the park and now they have been there in all seasons except spring.
