right now. He had a bountiful | summer and fall, and "birds" killed during the last of the season proved to have full crops and had a heavy bead of fat around the crop. This fat will sustain them for some time even if the rest of the winter is severe. This brings us around to the quail season's future. At this point it looks bright. We probably have as many quail | for late February as we ever have and as stated, they are in top-notch condition. This means, of course, good parent stock. Soon Bobwhite will be looking for a mate for the year. This will be signaled by the first calls of “Bobwhite" you hear. After Bob calls in his female companion, recognized by the buff colored head, these two will share equally the rais-j ing of a brood. Even should his mate be killed the male will! look after the little peepers, j We will all hope for weather: and ground conditions suitable for nesting, hatching and rear ing. The weather is, ofcoursq out of our hands but with some of the other conditions, man can be helpful.
