Rappahannock County’s deer season ended last Tuesday with a total season kill of 205. Nine bear were taken during the season for that specie which ended December 31. That established a new high for Rappahannock County. The 205 deer killed included one buck taken during the archery season making a total of 153 bucks and 52 does. Eighty deer were taken on the last day." The last day’s kill in additioin to; the 52 females was made up mostly of button bucks.
Compared to last year’s deer kill, the season just past showed a drop, from 338 to 205, however, any take of over 200 in Rappahannock County can be considered good. This is only the third year that Rapp’k has recorded a kill in excess of 200 deer. Dp to the last day of the season this year total of deer checked was 125, not a great number less than the 151 taken during the same period last year. The greatest difference this year is compared to last was the last day kill. That kill last year was 187 deer on the last day to 80 this year.
