Sets Carnival Dates
The regular business meeting of the Sperryville, Volunteer Fire Company was held January 6 at the fire hall with 15 members present. Dates for the annual carnival were set for Wednesday through Saturday, July 14, 15, 16 and 17, 1971 with the parade featured on Thursday, July 15. Prizes to be given away were discussed also. Plans for a pond to be constructed on the fire company grounds for a source of water du^ir,2 dry weather were con sidered. Construction of a porch on the new fire hall dedicated in memory of Bob Estes will be started in the near future.
It was reported that during 197C the department answered approximately 45 calls which took in the neighborhood of 425 man hours. The three vehicles of the department traveled about 2,100 miles. The next regular meeting of this organization will be February 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the fire hall. All members are urged to attend. The department expressed appreciation for the support given it during the past year.
Securities Expert to Speak at Library
A Wall Street Securities Expert will be the guest speaker at Rappahannock Library in Washington on February 1. James P. Jamieson, president of DuPont, Glore Forgan Municipals, Inc. will have as his subject “Is The Stock Market For You?” The program begins at 8 p.m. Mr. Jamieson divides his time each week between New York and Chicago. He lives with his wife, Mary R. Jamieson at High Thicket Farm near Sperryville.
