Sermon at Hopewell
The text and subject of the sermon delivered by the Rev. U. S. Brokenburr at the Hopewell Baptist Church, Sperryville on Sunday, January 10, 1971 from Micah 6:& was “An Humble Beginning.” Rev. Brokenburr stated that at the beginning of each New Year people make many resolutions that are not kept, or even thought of until the next year. Most resolutions pertain to ourselves or our families instead of being of interest to others. So often we fail to make those resolutions that should be of utmost importance to us, and they are the ones which come from within.
If more resolutions were made by our Christian church workers and others concerning the help of our fellowmen, I feel certain that they would not be broken so easily. So, for those who really want to feel that they have made a resolution, make one big one (and stick to it) that will come from within yourself and then you can truly say, “I have" started an humble beginning for the year of 1971.”
