So many people have the same names that it would be impossible to keep them all straight. If you think your local telephone directory has a lot of Smiths listed, you should see the social security rolls! At latest count, there were 2 million people whose last name was Smith. The second most common name on our records is Johnson, with 1.5 million listed. And the third most common is Williams, with |.3 million on the rolls. But while many people have the same name, each has his own social security number.
