Marshall Scott
Marshall D. Scott of Hyattsville, Md. died February 14, 1971. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sadie Corbin Scott; a daughter, Mrs. E. C. Mumford and a grandson, Gary Mumford, all of Hyattsville. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Bessie Houghton of Gallatin, Mo. A funeral service was held at noon Saturday from the Crawlers Funeral Chapel in Washington, D. C. A graveside service followed by interment was held at 2 p.m. in the Amissville Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. A. C. Walker of Culpeper conducted the rites.
John Henry Butler
Funeral services for John Henry Butler, 84, of Sperryville were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Shiloh Baptist Church, Woodville, Va. The pastor, the Rev. C. A. Baltimore assisted by the Rev. R. L. Banks and the Rev. U. S. Brokenburr conducted the service. Burial was in the family section of the Shiloh Church Cemetery.
Mr. Butler died on February 17,1971. He was the son of the late William and Margaret Walker Butler of Rappahannock County. Suvivors include three sons, James R. Butler of Gordonsville, Howard H. and Lewis S. Butler of Sperryville; two daughters, Miss Irene Butler of Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Alease B. Wilson of Waynesboro; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; also one brother, Ellis Butler of Willow Grove, Pa. Serving as active pallbearers were Ray Jackson, Lloyd Fitzhugh, Ellis Glasker, Charles Williams, Jr., Carl Frye and Clifford Dennis.
