Soc. Security Notes

Arranging your program schedule for the coming year? Social Security may have some help for you according to Mrs. Hazel F. Crumpton, Manager of the Winchester Social Security office. One of the many functions of a social security office is to explain that federally operated program. The Winchester office has a speaker service, films, slides, recordings, and exhibits, all designed to help make clearer what seems to many people, a very complicated program. A telephone call to that office will arrange a program for your club. Recent surveys show that a large percentage of the general public is unaware of the protection the young family has under social security according to Mrs. Crumpton. This includes the payments possible to the young worker and his family if the worker becomes disabled or to his family in case of death.

This same national study concluded that although 87 percent of the public were familiar with the social security retirement benefit, only 50 percent were aware of health .and medical insurance benefits.

Mrs. Crumpton reminds all program chairmen that their work can be one program easier and at the same time meet a real need of the membership through one telephone call. The telephone number for the Winchester office is 667-1511.
