Hound Race
Entries Open
Foxhound owners are reminded that the drag race will be included again this year on the race card of the annual Rappahannock Pointto-Point Races. The hound race is the final event of the races which are scheduled for Saturday, March 6 at Thornton Hill Farm south of Sperryville on Route 522.
According to W. H. Lyne chairman of the Drag Race Committee, foxhounds (no crbss breds) owned by members of the Northern Virginia Foxhunters Association or hunters who live in the Rappahannock Hunt territory are eligible. The usual entry fee is 50 cents per hound and entries may be sent Clifton Clark, Woodville, Va. or W. H. Lyne, Rt. 1 Box 64, Washington, Va. by Saturday, February 27. Fees collected will be used as cash prizes and divided as follows: 40 percent to first; 25 percent to second and 15 percent to third place. Fourth and fifth place hounds to finish will receive 10 percent. The Foxhunters Challenge Trophy and the Wells Memorial Trophy, with replicas of the latter as permanent trophies, will be awarded the first three hounds to finish. All hounds must be on the grounds by 11 a.m. March 6.
