Emergency Room Comg. Sine* your Hospital opened on Much 24, 1960, emergency room coverage was furnished by the General Practitioners who were members of your Hospital’s Medical Staff. This wotted wel until the summer ef 1970, when the number of tenoral practitioners on the staff became too few to furnish the accessary coverage. To meet this public need and to keep the Emergency Room functioning, the Board of Directors authorized hiring out-of-town physicians to cover the Emergency Room. Paid coverage started with weekends and was subsequently expanded to include week nights as the number of general practitioners further decreased. Paid coverage wi be continued until your Hospital has attracted sufficient physicians to make this unnecessary. For the year ended September 30,1971, your Hospital spent‘34,007 for emergency room physician coverage, and collected only '10,326 for services rendered by these physicians. Specialists on your Hospital staff furnish emergency room coverage for matters falling within their specialty.
