Whitham said the newly constituted district will send 358 delegates and a like number of alternates to the State Convention. At this meeting, two delegates and two alternates will be elected to attend the Republican National Convention in San Diego, Cal. in August, and one nominee for Presidential Elector will be chosen.
The group is expected to unanimously renominate incumbent Congressman J. Kenneth Robinson of Winchester as their standard bearer for that post. He is the sole Virginia member of the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee. He served previously on the House Committees on Agriculture and Government Operations.
