SIGN STRUCK Kevin Flynn of Manassas operating a 74 Buick skidded on wet pavement on Route 211 Saturday east of Panorama and struck a highway sign. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $350 and Flynn was cited for defective equipment, tires. Trooper J. A. Watson investigated the accident. Maury Nichols Jr. of Sperryville struck and killed a deer on Route 231 three miles south of Sperryville0 on April 11. He escaped injury but the damage to the 72 Chevrolet Vega he was driving was estimated at $400 by Trooper W. A. Buntin.D Pressure tests The Extension Office is helping make sure all canning equipment is in tip-top order for the coming season, and will conduct tests of pressure canner gauges next week. Tests will be conducted on Monday, April 28, from 1 to 3 p.m., and on Tuesday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Extension office. All anyone has to do is bring the lid from the pressure canner and the pressure gauge. If there are any questions, call 675-3619.□
Public hearing
on electricity VIRGINIA’S new Electricity Costs Commission will hold a public hearing in Richmond to hear from any citizen of the Commonwealth who wishes to talk directly to the Commission. The public hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 28, in the auditorium of the Department of Highways and Transportation. The auditorium is at 1221 East Broad Street in Richmond. Louis R. Lawson, Jr., Staff Director of the Commission, stated that anyone who cannot be in Richmond for the public hearing but wishes to make a statement to the Commission can mail statements to the Office of the Governor, Electricity Costs Commission, Box 1475, State Capitol, Richmond, 23212.□
