The Rappahannock County Ad Hoc Committee on the Equal Rights Amendment reports that on election day, Nov. 8, thirteen women "manned” three polling places, Amissville, Sperryville and Flint Hill, for most of the day, seeking voter’s names on petitions indicating support for ERA. Approximately 250 of the voters approached signed petitions. ►? The effort was undertaken in order for the committee to be able to advise the candidate elected to the Virginia House of Delegates from this district, and the State Senator already representing local voters, about ERA sentiment. The committee reports that those signing the petitions represent a fair cross-section of the Rappahannock voting populus. A similar effort made in Culpeper resulted in about 400 signatures of persons voting is the election.
