To the editor,
A letter appearing in the Nov. 10 edition of this paper under the headline, “Problems With ERA” may have misled some readers. For instance, it asserted that the Equal Rights Amendment would "shift...power from state to federal by allowing Congress, for the first time, to legislate on such matters as marriage, the family, divorce, etc.” Current Federal laws relating to income and inheritance taxes, social security, welfare, federal pensions and many other matters involve marriage and the family. ERA would simply require that legislation in these areas could not discriminate
