The large 1977 wheat harvest coupled with the new farm program, and a recent rise in hog numbers ind cattle on feed have created an increasing interest in agricutlure’s upcoming potential.
The Virginia Crop and Livestock Reporting Service working with the U. S. Department of Agriculture will conduct a survey in late November and early December to put some solid information on the line as to how many acres farmers planted to winter wheat for harvest in 1978, how many cattle are on farms and ranches, and the size of the hog inventory and the number of pigs expected to be born in early 1978. Another report will cover chickens.
