Two Arlington, Virginia, men were recently convicted by U. S. Magistrate I. Randolph Dovel, of Hunting in Shenandoah National Park, announced Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen. Glen R. Lewis, age 19, and Thomas Tacey, age 19, were charged with hunting in the National Park and upon conviction received fines of one hundred dollars each. A 1975 Ford Mustang II and a Smith and Wesson 357 cal. revolver used in the crime were also confiscated by the court. Both men were apprehended by Park Rangers in the early morning hours of September 18, with the weapon and animal carcass in their vehicle.
Superintendent Jacobsen noted that all wildlife is protected within national park areas, and encouraged all hunters to be alert to the presence of the well-marked Park boundaries during this hunting season.
