Mrs. Hrbek noted that $200 might sound like a lot but if applied towards hospitalization payments, would break down into $16 per month on a family plan policy that now cost teachers aver $70 per month. —Duty free lunch periods, particularly for those Elementary school teachers who now receive “perhaps a half hour every other day,” according to Mrs. Hrbek.
—Sick leave increased to 18 days per year with three days allowed for personal use.
—Yearly pay periods increased from ten or 12 to 24 to help teachers with budgeting their salaries.
—Early dismissal twice a month for professional meetings. Mrs. Hrbek noted that Rappahannock’s school hours currently extended over the minimum called for by the state so early dismissal would not infringe upon the time that students are required to be in class.
—Free admittance to school functions, particularly for elementary teachers at high school athletic events where high school teachers are not required to pay.
School Board Chairman Beverly Massie stated that the Board members would not comment on the salary proposals yet since members Arthlinda Quaintance and Paul Nichols were not present. She added that the Board may call on Education Association representatives to discuss the proposals once budget sessions begin.
Mrs. Massie explained that the Board would not receive the basic state aid report until March even though budget hearings were planned to start in February. "The budget depends in
