program in Rappahannock schools when the county was basically an agricultural community. Bloomer explained that lack of facilities prevented offering such a program. “I feel there should be a lot more equipment in the shop that money U not available for,” commented Joel Daczewitz, member of the vocational committee that drew up the five year plan. He said there was $3,000 in the budget for the coming year for equipment. “That’s not much,” he added. "We do a lot to attract people to the county but I don’t think we do enough to attract students to a trade that will allow them to stay in the county and earn a living,” he added.
Board member Walter Masterson suggested that school authorities investigate a shop equipment replacement program similar to that used with the school buses. He said he was sure the shop had equipment that “looks like it belongs in the Smithsonian.”
The Board voted unanimously to adopt the five year vocational plan.
