My first day in Richmond was an interesting experience. On leaving Culpeper Tuesday, about 6 miles out of town, near Stevensburg, the largest black cat I ever saw crossed my path from right to left. Not knowing which way to turn to avoid this unwanted monster, I surged on ahead, wondering what was in store for me when I reached Richmond. Driving straight to the “new” General Assembly Building to unload the fairly heavy boxes of letters, books, and periodicals, I had to circle the block until an opportune time arose so as to unload.
