Positions which will be filled in National Forests, National Parks, a wildlife refuge or in a research laboratory includes such jobs as lab assistants, forestry aides, fire guards, brush crews, survey teams and laborers. Attempts will be made to coordinate the position assignments with the specific career goal of successful applicants.
Persons chosen to participate in the program will be Civil Service employees with the corresponding benefits. Salaries paid generally are in the GS2 range of the government pay scale. However, it is generally considered that it is the practical experience gained by the participant rather than the pay that is really the long-range benefit of the program.
Applicants must submit the following material for consideration: (1) A completed U. S. Government Form 171.
